We have had such a fun time learning all about the babies these past few weeks! We played in the role play area as doctors, mums, dads, nurses and sister or brothers taking care of babies, we made baby cribs and babies to put in them, we took care of the babies by washing them and putting clothes on them. We build lots of things for babies in the construction and playdoh area too! Our favourite books were Mog and the baby and Everywhere babies!
We are really enjoying our hurling coaching in the sunshine with Jenny!

Welcome to our school quilt project! In a year where it has been very hard to come together as a whole school, Maeve came up with this idea as a way to beat the bubbles and bring us together. Every child and adult in the school is decorating a fabric square with a picture of what they love and missed about school. They will then be combined into a patchwork style quilt to display in our school forever. The cotton squares are the colours used in the Educate Together logo.
It’s a highlight of every morning to see who has finished their beautiful square. We will be posting them to the quilt maker shortly.

Cathy organised a huge order of books in lots of different languages. She researched the countries that the children of our school have family in and made sure these languages will be represented in our class libraries. Hurrah!

Thank you so much to the DSPCA who visited us virtually to tell us all about taking care of pets. Our favourite pet was the cheeky escape artist hamster!

We have been looking at the ‘Measures’ strand in Mathematics over the last while.
We have been focusing on ‘Length’. We looked at a variety of objects in our classroom and compared the length of each. We made use of vocabulary such as ‘long’, ‘longer than’, ‘longest’, ‘short’, ‘shorter than’ and ‘shortest’.
We decided to predict how many cubes it would take to measure the length of selected classroom objects. We then tested our predictions in groups . We could not believe how many cubes it took to measure the length of our shoe!! We also couldn’t believe how many lollipop sticks it took to measure the length of our table to different parts of the classroom!

We wrapped up this incredible school year with a Virtual School Tour to Edinburgh Zoo. After a quick ‘sing song on the bus’, the children took over as the Zookeepers while we looked at the animals on their webcams. They had all researched a fact or two about the animals of Edinburgh Zoo and amazed us all with their knowledge – one stand out fact being that tiger’s pee smells like buttered popcorn!!!
Well done girls and boys, as always you blew us away with your creativity and enthusiasm!
