Our  Board of Management is the decision-making body in our school. The democratically elected committee has the responsibility to ensure that our school is run effectively, in keeping with the four main principles of Educate Together. Each Board of Management serves a four- year term. Our current Board of eight individuals were elected in the Autumn of 2019 and will remain until Autumn 2023.

28th April 2022

The Board of Management of Harcourt Terrace ETNS met on 28th March 2022. Seven Board members attended.

The following is the agreed report (items that are neither private or confidential) of this meeting.

Governance

  • The Chairperson provided an overview of our role as the Board of Management.
  • The Chairperson gave an update on the application of the ET Ethos in School in recent weeks.
  • The school will be represented at the upcoming Educate Together AGM.
  • The Board is delighted with the ongoing progress of our permanent building.

Principals Report

  • The Principal gave a report, there were no matters arising.

Treasurers Report

  • Thank you to our treasurer, Kirsty, for her ongoing hard work.

Staffing

  • The Board would like to welcome Brighid to the staff of Harcourt Terrace.

Curriculum

  • Testing is progressing well across the school.

PGTA

  • Thank you to Dr. Sonia Morris for Autism Information talk given to parents and pupils.

Buildings

  • New fencing in the yard to be installed.
  • Awaiting information on July Provision.

Special Items

  • In April it was Autism Acceptance Month. We collaborated with Rathmines library to host a sensory reading for our children in Tony and Ronnie’s class as well as senior infants. We also had a separate Teddy Bear’s Picnic event too. We had reverse integration all week inviting children from the mainstream classes down to Ronnie and Tony’s classrooms.

Future Events

  • Scholastic Book Fair taking place the week of Tuesday 3rd May.
  • School Tours planned for all classes. Wooly’s Farm will be visiting for the infant and Autism Classes. First and Second Class attending UCD Let’s Go Camp.

8th March 2022

The Board of Management of Harcourt Terrace ETNS met on 8th March 2022. Six Board members attended.

Governance

  • The Chairperson provided an overview of our role as the Board of Management.
  • The Chairperson gave an update on the application of the ET Ethos in School in recent weeks.
  • The Chairperson expressed that our thoughts are with families and especially children who are suffering due to the conflict in Ukraine at this time.

Staffing

  • We look forward to welcoming a teaching intern from Italy in April.

PGTA

  • Dan and Sylvia met with the Chairperson of the PGTA and they had a frank and open conversation.

Future Events

  • We will be celebrating our Lá Glas on Wednesday 16th March with parents attending for the first whole school event of the year.

15th February 2022

  • Welcome back to Ciara who has returned from her leave.
  • We are sad to lose Deirdre and wish her the best in her future endeavours.

Buildings

  • Evana Bacik, local Labour TD question answered by minister:

‘The school to which the Deputy refers is at an advanced stage of the tender process. The Design Team have submitted a Stage 3 tender report, which identifies a recommended bidder. Subject to no issues arising it is envisaged that construction could commence in Quarter 2 of 2022 with an estimated completion timeframe of 21 months.’

  • Schools Broadband is in and we are now looking at setting up our internet based phone system with Diacom.

Special Items

  • The Department of Education are sending out a surveyor this week to inspect the yard for potential yard resurfacing.

Future Events

  • Seachtain na Gaeilge will take place from 7th-16th March in the school.

12th January 2022

Policy Approval

  • The Board reviewed and adopted two policies:
    • Critical Incident Management policy
    • Data Access Procedures Policy

 

HEPA Filters & CO2 monitors have been purchased and cover all rooms in the school, including special classes.

School Bus service is up and running as of 6th December.

Enrolment and Staffing

  • Staffing remains the same. Enrolment is at 73 pupils.

Curriculum

  • Wellbeing has been chosen as the School Self Evaluation subject.

13th October 2021

The Board of Management of Harcourt Terrace ETNS met on October 13th 2021. Seven Board members attended.
The following is the agreed report (items that are neither private or confidential) of this meeting.

Enrolment and Staffing

  • Pupil numbers were finalised on 30th September and are at 77 pupils. This is broken down into 22 Junior Infants, 8 Senior Infants, 20 1st Class, 14 2nd Class and 6 in each of the two Special Classes. As a result of these numbers, one developing post will be kept and one will be lost.

Curriculum

  • New Language Curriculum training for staff taking place on Friday 15th October. The school will have a half day as a result of this.
