Goodbye to Niamh

We were very sad to say goodbye to our principal Niamh Cullen on Friday 25th June. We gathered in the yard for a whole school assembly to honour all that Niamh has done for us since we opened in September 2018. It’s been an amazing three years with Niamh at the front and center of our gorgeous school community. All the best to you Niamh on your new journey with Gracepark ETNS. Looking forward to inviting you back for the big official opening of our permanent school building in Harcourt Terrace in a couple of short years’ time. You’ll be missed.

Quilt Project 2021

Welcome to our school quilt project! In a year where it has been very hard to come together as a whole school, Maeve came up with this idea as a way to beat the bubbles and bring us together. Every child and adult in the school is decorating a fabric square with a picture of what they love and missed about school. They will then be combined into a patchwork style quilt to display in our school forever. The cotton squares are the colours used in the Educate Together logo.
It’s a highlight of every morning to see who has finished their beautiful square. We will be posting them to the quilt maker shortly.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt!

We had such fun reading Michael Rosen’s classic book.We made sensory maps of the story with swishy swashy grass, squelchy mud, swirling snow, deep, cool water and stumbly twigs. We took advantage of the sunnier weather and drew the bear with chalk in the yard. We’re not scared!

Junior Infants went to the park

We have been making the most of Harold’s Cross Park and its lovely playground. We can’t wait to see what Rathmines has to offer and are already dreaming of swimming in Swan Leisure, going to the cinema and making connections with the many, many sports clubs in the area #wellbeing #outdoor learning

Ramadan Art in Junior Infants

We have been learning all about Ramadan in Junior Infants. We talked about special meals (we learned how to cook homemade spicy burgers – yum!) and we saw the delicious treats some of our families have when the sun goes down. The Senior Infants and First Class taught us the meaning behind fasting and all about ‘good deeds’ at a wonderful assembly outside in the yard.

Here are some beautiful Islamic shaped sun catchers we made.
