🎉 Official Grand Opening – A Day to Remember! 🎉
We are still buzzing with excitement after the incredible celebration on Friday for the Grand Opening of our school! Our special day was filled with joy, pride, music, and a strong sense of community. It was a celebration of love, equality and respect. Our school is a place where every child is cherished!
We were honoured to welcome Minister for Education Helen McEntee, who joined us for this milestone occasion. Her presence, along with the attendance of all our local TDs and Councillors, showed just how valued our school is within the wider community. Thank you all so much for taking the time to be part of our day.
A heartfelt thank you to all the Parents and Guardians who came to support us — your encouragement and belief in our vision has been vital since day one. The atmosphere was electric, and it was made even more memorable because you were there with us.
As guests arrived, they were welcomed with lively entertainment thanks to the incredible Patrice and Bernard Coyle — your music set the perfect tone for the celebrations! 🎶
A huge thanks also to John Sharpson for being our MC on the day, bringing such fun and good humour to our ceremony!
One of the standout moments of the day was the performance by our school choir. You sang with such passion and pride, and left the audience beaming with joy — you were simply fabulous! 🌟
To top it all off, the Army Band played a wonderful set just for the children, and the sight of them dancing together in the hall with their friends is something we’ll never forget. It was pure magic — memories that will last a lifetime! 🥁💃🕺
This grand opening would not have been possible without the support of Educate Together, who have walked this journey with us every step of the way. Thank you for your guidance, encouragement, and belief in what we’re building here.
*And as Tony said in his speech: “Níl aon tinteán mar do thinteán féin” – “There’s no place like home” – and it’s great to be finally home! 🏡💙

Following on from the huge interest in our school, next Wednesday morning we are hosting an open morning for perspective parents to come and have a tour of our school campus.
You are welcome to come along at 9.00am next Wednesday morning, 12th of March 2025.
Please share this information with anyone who might be interested in learning more about our school!
This week in 2nd Class we made the most of the beautiful Spring weather and headed off to Belgrave Square. On the way we spotted some signs of Spring such as daffodils that were ready to bloom!
Our favourite part of the park was the playground – check out the pictures below. We’re so lucky to have this amazing resource so close to the school and we hope to return soon!
Second Class really enjoyed Healthy Eating Week 2024.
We had a fruit workshop, learned the Irish names for some exotic fruits, drew a selection of green foods to add to our whole school display and learned the importance of ‘eating the rainbow’!
Check out these pictures from our fruit workshop. Delicious!
We celebrated Lá Glas on Thursday 16th of March in our school hall.

On Wednesday 14th of December the children of Harcourt Terrace ETNS all performed on stage for the whole-school community. Check out how they got on in this short video. I think you will agree that they all look amazing. Well done to Hyeguen who captured all of these fantastic pictures and compiled this wonderful video. A big shout out to our PGTA, bakers, staff, children, parental community and wider community who contributed to us raising €2,003.37 towards new literacy resources on the day too through our bake sale and raffle. Maith sibh!
A thought for the day:

This week our new student council came together for the first time to meet with Dan our principal.
It was wonderful to see the elected class representatives from all of our classes in the school come together and discuss key matters to the children.
One topic which was discussed was what name shall we have for our Well-Being Morning Check In’s which have been so successful thus far.
Following some wonderful suggestions, we voted that they would be named “Morning Meetings” or ” Cruinniú Maidine” when spoken in Irish.
Our student council also gave us some great ideas regarding how our Student Council notice board should look.
Our student council will meet at the end of each month with the principal. We plan for this to be a tradition moving forward in the school as we grow. The promotion of student voice within the school is hugely important. Afterall, our children are one of our key stakeholders in Harcourt Terrace ETNS.
