Board of Management
Our Board of Management is the decision-making body in our school. The democratically elected committee has the responsibility to ensure that our school is run effectively, in keeping with the four main principles of Educate Together. Each Board of Management serves a four- year term. Our current Board of eight individuals were elected in the Autumn of 2019 and will remain until Autumn 2023.

The BOM took part in a minute of silence as a mark of respect to all those who lost their lives in the Creeslough tragedy last week.
Governance
- The Chairperson continued the Governance piece, taken from the Governing Handbook. This month it was about Procedures for Board Meetings.
Patron Rep
- Keith Young is stepping down as Patron Rep on the BOM. A big thank you to Keith for all his work and support on the Board up to now.
Curriculum and School Self Evaluation
- There are Maths eyes and Maths week activities taking place in the school. The NRIT assessments have been taking place also.
- As part of the SSE process we monitored how our planned actions were taking effect. Something that was observed is that we have children who find the settling in/morning transition difficult so we have started a morning check in with all classes using the Zones of Regulation Programme.
Extra Curricular Activities
- We have out weekly Lego club.
Parental Involvement
- The PGTA AGM was held this week in the school with over 20 of our parents attending.
- Thank you for the continued parental involvement for swimming.
Buildings
- Work is continuing on the site.
Future Events
- Parent Teacher Meetings will be held in person this year on 15th, 16th, and 17th of November.

The BOM welcomed the school community back after the summer break.
Ethos
- Each month HTETNS will have a core value which will be incorporated into assembly. This month is co-operation which links nicely with friendship and settling back into school.
Student Council
- There will be elections held for our Student Council for this year in October. The Student Council will be invited to contribute to BOM meetings in whichever method they wish, in person, in a video, in writing etc.
Enrolment and Staffing
- Welcome to all the new staff starting with us this year.
Parental Involvement
- The National Parents Council are coming into the school on the 27th of September to give a talk to the school and PGTA.
- Thank you to parental Volunteers for helping with swimming.
Buildings
- Work has started on the new building. Dan and Tony did a site visit to meet the foreman. The current end date is May 24th 2024.
- Thank you to Mythen Construction.
Treasurers Report
- The BOM are very grateful to Kirsty in her volunteer role as treasurer for all she does, so quietly, without any hope of praise and always with an open heart and mind.
- The BOM would also like to thank Lori for all she does day in day out to assist both Kirsty and Dan in managing our school finances.

Curriculum
- End of year school reports have been written and sent out to parents.
- As part of our School Self Evaluation on the area of Wellbeing, our school received its first ever flag, The Amber Flag for promoting Wellbeing throughout the school. As part of our survey results, we have also established the school’s first Student Council.
SEN
- The Inclusion Programme will run from the 4th of July to the 15th of July
- The Special Class Programme will run from the 29th of June to the 13th of July. School bus transport and escort service available for this.
Parental Involvement
- PGTA gave our yard a face lift by painting yard surface games and markings on our yard. Also planting done too.

Curriculum
- Standardised testing is completed across the school.
- We had an incidental visit from our inspector Peadar Ó Muirí on Monday the 9th of May. He visited two classes and introduced himself to all staff. He observed the children to be open, engaged and interactive learners and that they could share aspects of the learning from the environment around them. He offered support and ideas as part of our School Self Evaluation in the area of Well- Being.
SEN
- We are hosting both the School based Inclusion programme and the school based Special Class programme during the month of July.

The Board ratified the following policies:
- The draft homework policy that was presented in person to the Board of Management at the 15th February 2022 meeting has been ratified. This process involved two parental surveys. The first homework survey for parents was issued in October and the second one was issued at the end of March. Following on from the second parental survey the results were issued to all parents on 6th May and the results of which were shared with the Board of Management. The Board members who were present at the 26th May meeting unanimously ratified the policy.
Parental Involvement
- We have started a long term fundraising committee for the 20 20 20 fundraiser for ICT. Following an in person meeting we have decided to use the remainder of this term to plan the fundraiser for over the course of the next school year.
- Via the PGTA we are organising another time for our parents to work on the school yard, planting flowers etc.
- From hosting our Autism Info morning in collaboration with the PGTA we raised enough money to purchase an outdoor bench swing for our yard as part of a calm zone we are creating on yard for all of our children.

Special Items
- In April it was Autism Acceptance Month. We collaborated with Rathmines library to host a sensory reading for our children in Tony and Ronnie’s class as well as senior infants. We also had a separate Teddy Bear’s Picnic event too. We had reverse integration all week inviting children from the mainstream classes down to Ronnie and Tony’s classrooms.
Future Events
- Scholastic Book Fair taking place the week of Tuesday 3rd May.
- School Tours planned for all classes. Wooly’s Farm will be visiting for the infant and Autism Classes. First and Second Class attending UCD Let’s Go Camp.

- Evana Bacik, local Labour TD question answered by minister:
‘The school to which the Deputy refers is at an advanced stage of the tender process. The Design Team have submitted a Stage 3 tender report, which identifies a recommended bidder. Subject to no issues arising it is envisaged that construction could commence in Quarter 2 of 2022 with an estimated completion timeframe of 21 months.’
- Schools Broadband is in and we are now looking at setting up our internet based phone system with Diacom.
Special Items
- The Department of Education are sending out a surveyor this week to inspect the yard for potential yard resurfacing.

The Board of Management of Harcourt Terrace ETNS met on October 13th 2021. Seven Board members attended.

Enrolment and Staffing
- Pupil numbers were finalised on 30th September and are at 77 pupils. This is broken down into 22 Junior Infants, 8 Senior Infants, 20 1st Class, 14 2nd Class and 6 in each of the two Special Classes. As a result of these numbers, one developing post will be kept and one will be lost.
Curriculum
- New Language Curriculum training for staff taking place on Friday 15th October. The school will have a half day as a result of this.
