We had a busy September in 6th Class. Here are some of our highlights!
~ The Engineering challenge ~
This month for science in 6th as an engineering challenge we had to make a bridge, but there was a twist – we could ONLY use egg cartons and it had to be at least 1 metre long. We needed to make the bridge strong to hold a toy car. It was a fun challenge to learn how to make things, it took us a while to make the bridge but it was so fun to make. We made some mistakes in the making of the bridges but it was all worth it in the end. We presented the bridges to the people in our class. Every day before home time we would all work on our bridges until we finished making our bridge.

~ Faceless Portraits ~
This week in 6th Class, we have been doing faceless portraits inspired by Coco Dáves. They are exactly what they sound like: portraits that have no facial features. However, you can put a clue of who you are on the portrait; you could add glasses, hairstyles, jewellery and other things. It was a really fun experience, and everyone enjoyed it. Some people unlocked their hidden talents for the Arts and made really amazing artworks. We used oil pastels, crayons, pencils and chalk. If you would like to see them, just come up to our classroom on the 2nd floor and you can see them displayed outside our room.

~ Friendship Week ~
This week for friendship week 6th class went down to junior infants and we played loads of fun games. We played games like: pictonary, keepy uppy, the mirror game and some more fun games like those. We hope they enjoyed because we would love to go down to them again because we had so much fun in junior infants!

~ GAA matches ~
During September we have been learning how to play Gaelic Football. The girls have played 2 matches. They lost their first match 5-2 and the second 29-0. The boys have played 3 matches. The second match was their best display! Art scored a goal! We have been training for the last month and hope we will play more matches but we had fun either way. Thank you to Joshua, Ciara and Tony for helping us train for the past few weeks.
